Professional Development 2019-20

Focus for 2019-20 School Year: Essential Elements of Instruction to plan for Academic Language to support Literacy.

THEORY OF ACTION

We believe that if students are fully engaged in the lesson that the teachers have explicitly designed and delivered, then we will see an increase in academic achievement as measured by district benchmarks. The professional development across the district will ensure that academic language is a priority across all content areas.

Professional learning in Adams 14 has been created by teachers and delivered by teachers based our district focuses. The models of professional learning offered have been face-to-face, blended learning, workshop and on-site learning labs. The district has offered 4 full day District Professional Development days and 11 early release days where teachers learn about planning first best instruction using student engagement strategies to enhance the use of academic language.
