The Adams 14 Annual Soccer World Cup
In the summer of 2022, the Adams County School District 14 was going through a turbulent time. While local control had been recovered in February of 2022, existential threats were just about everywhere and—like a new nation—the district was having to fight battles for survival on multiple fronts. Students, parents and employees were concerned about what the future held.
The future actually held many victories—such as the September 2022 recovery of the state accreditation, the August 2023 defeat of the reorganization order, the March 2024 award of international accreditation, the November 2024 passing of the $113.9 M bond and of the $10 M mill levy—but no one could have known any of that at the time. A morale boost was needed.
It was under these conditions that the idea for a weekend of family fun, themed around The Beautiful Game of soccer, and stimulated by the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ (November 20 - December 18, 2022), was born. The idea was proposed to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karla Loría during a casual conversation in the parking lot of the Educational Support Services (ESS) building, and with the words “¡Hacelo, Mario!” (“Do it, Mario!”) she gave her approval to proceed. On August 9, 2022, the idea was presented as a project to the Board of Education; things were in motion for the Adams 14 First Annual Soccer World Cup (May 5-7, 2023).

For our third Annual World Cup, we are thrilled to unveil our new logo, which incorporates the Adams 14 logo. More than ever, the mountains in the Adams 14 logo symbolize our upward journey toward growth and stability.
This year, we’ve incorporated four vibrant colors: blue, red, yellow, and green. Blue represents inspiration the driving force behind our growth. Without the inspiration that comes from our community, our progress would not be possible. Red, often associated with passion, also symbolizes the confidence of our entire district, as well as our students, who play with heart and determination in the World Cup.
The Yellow in our logo represents knowledge a core value in our school district. Whether we are gaining new insights or sharing them with others, knowledge is always at the center of what we do. Finally, green represents our growth a testament to how far we’ve come and the exciting journey ahead.
A total of 42 countries from around the globe have been represented in the Adams 14 Annual Soccer World Cup, showcasing a diverse mix of teams from every continent. These nations bring their unique cultures, talents, and passion for soccer, making the tournament an exciting celebration of international sportsmanship and unity. Fans from all corners of the world come together to cheer for their teams, creating a vibrant atmosphere of competition and camaraderie.

Champions Awards

Champions Trophy: Awarded to the winning team in each category. Teams will take a commemorative photo with the trophy before returning it to Adams 14. A plaque or display listing past champions will be available for public viewing.

Gold Medals: Each player from the first-place team in every category will receive a gold medal.

Silver Medals: Each player from the second-place team in every category will receive a silver medal.

Bronze Medals: Players from the third-place teams of 8-team categories will receive a bronze medal.

Fourth Place Medals: Players from the fourth-place of 8-team categories will also receive a bronze medal.
Individual Player Awards

Golden Ball Trophy: Awarded to the top goal scorer in each category, regardless of their team’s placement.

Golden Glove Trophy: Given to the goalkeeper of the championship-winning team in each category.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) Trophy: Presented to a player from each championship-winning team, chosen by their teammates as the most impactful contributor to their victory.
