Learn About Vice President Estrada

Ms. Janet Estrada is a passionate Assistant Principal in the Denver Public Schools who has devoted her career to elevate the needs of her community’s most marginalized populations and create rigorous and relevant educational opportunities that will empower them for college and/or career readiness. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Adams County 14 School Board of Education where she ensures students are at the forefront of every decision.

Since graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with Elementary Educator Certification, Ms. Estrada has devoted her career to promoting educational innovation and improvement within bilingual, urban, and communities of color. She has served with distinction since 2008 as a teacher and administrator on the elementary, middle, and high school levels across multiple Denver Public Schools campuses. Based on her proven record of impact on both the classroom and campus levels, she was accepted in 2022 by the Colorado Education Association as a CO-PILOT facilitator charged with leading culturally and historically responsive education professional development opportunities for Colorado educators. In addition to her sustained service within urban school systems, Ms. Estrada has sought to engage directly with fellow educational leaders on vital issues impacting Latinx students, educators and leaders. She currently serves as Board Delegate to the Colorado Association of Latino Administrators & Superintendents, having previously participated in extensive role-embedded core leadership development within its “Four Corners Latinx Leadership Academy.” She was also selected as one of nineteen Fellows across the state of Colorado to participate in the University of Denver’s Latino Leadership Institute, culminating in her certification in Executive Leadership.

Ms. Estrada holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology (accompanied by Elementary Educator Certification) from the University of Colorado at Boulder, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology (accompanied by Administrative Certification) from the University of Colorado at Denver. She is currently a Doctoral student at Loyola University Chicago’s Administration and Supervision Superintendent Endorsement EdD Program. When she is not serving children in her capacities as an educator, school leader and school board member, she loves to spend time with her own 3 young sons.

Learn About Secretary Zubia

Since graduating from Adams City High School, Ms. Maria Zubia has dedicated more than three decades to improving the health and educational opportunities and outcomes for students and families of Commerce City and Adams 14. This commitment is most immediately demonstrated by her volunteer service as Secretary of the Adams 14 Board of Education.

Ms. Zubia is a proud product of Commerce City and Adams 14 and has devoted her professional life to making a lasting impact within her community. Shortly after her graduation from Adams City High School and after a few semesters at CSU, Ms. Zubia began serving as a Center Parent Liaison for the Adams County Head Start Program. In that capacity, she acted in a vital role in recruiting, enrolling, and supporting young children and families to ensure their full access to early childhood educational services. Even after transitioning out of her full-time staff role, Ms. Zubia provided critical leadership to the organization as a member of its Policy Council and Health Advisory Committee.

Ms. Zubia maintained her connection to the Commerce City community throughout her service as Operations Manager for Floramark Inc. from 1994 to 2001. Floramark was a Commerce City-based small business specializing in large-scale floral wholesale services for area supermarkets and other retail businesses. As Operations Manager, she oversaw all aspects of the production process including personnel effectiveness and process efficiency.  

Since 2001, Ms. Zubia has played a critical role for the children and families of Commerce City as Director of Community Outreach for Kids First Health Care (formerly known as Community Health Services). As a parent of three children and working full-time Ms. Zubia took college courses in 2006 and received her Certified Community Health Worker Certificate from CCD. During her tenure with the organization, the scope and impact of Kids First’s work across Adams County have grown significantly; this expansion has included the expansion of health clinics in Adams 14 schools as well as three other neighboring districts and communities. Ms. Zubia directly led the development of Kids First’s school-based enrollment processes, amongst many others, which remain in place to this day. She founded the organization’s Youth Advisory Board in 2008 and the organization's Community Advisory Committee in 2016.

As of July of 2022, after more than 21 years at Kids First Health Care, Ms. Zubia took on a new role as Health Equity Director with Adelante Community Development (ADC). A non-profit organization focused on Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs, and their well-being by providing education and support with technical skills, essential business skills, health, and wellness. Ms. Zubia currently oversees the health and wellness programs.

Ms. Zubia’s dedication to service of the Adams County and Commerce City communities has gone far beyond her professional duties. Whether on issues related to health services, basic human needs, early childhood education, immigrant support, community enrichment, equity, or educational opportunity, her record of impact on the local and state level has spanned dozens of committees and leadership roles, as well as investing countless volunteer hours. She has been formally recognized for these extraordinary efforts by Kaiser Permanente, the Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved, the Early Childhood Partnership of Adams County, the Denver Foundation, the Commerce City Business & Professionals Association, the Colorado Association for School-Based Health Care, and U.S. Representative Ed Perlmutter amongst others.

Ms. Zubia is the proud mother of two adult children and former Adams 14 students as well as a teen daughter. Her daughter recently graduated from Adams 14 and is a representative of the student’s voice in the school district and with the city’s youth commission. When Ms. Zubia is not advocating on behalf of children and families, she relishes the opportunity to spend quality time with her own family.

Learn About Treasurer Amador

Mr. Amador began his volunteer work in Adams 14 on the District Accountability Committee, serving as the chair for several years. He works as a market traded securities specialist at Pacific Premier Bank. He has two children attending Adams 14 schools, one in high school and one in kindergarten. James is an avid Las Vegas Raiders football fan. 

Learn About Director Molina-Aguayo

Ms. Molina is a community organizer in Commerce City and provides business administration for a family business. Her passion is environmental justice and she works diligently for a healthy, safe and equitable city with opportunity to grow and gracefully age in peace. Ms. Molina has two children who attend Adams City High School. Her son graduated from Adams City High School in 2023 and her daughter is a senior. She was appointed to the board in September 2022 and will finish out the remainder of the term.
