Adams 14 Board Resolutions

The Board of Education periodically passes a resolution as a way of taking formal action on a specific topic. Typically, resolutions are passed for the following reasons:

  • To support particular legislative or policy action;
  • To celebrate and recognize significant events at the federal, state or local level;
  • To take collective action for the District (for example, to adopt the annual budget).

Resolution Spotlight

At the January 12 meeting, the Adams 14 Board of Education approved a resolution recognizing National School Board Recognition Month. The full text of the resolution is below.

SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH, JANUARY 2010

A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH IN ADAMS 14.

WHEREAS,  these are challenging times for public education and for the work of local school board members; and

WHEREAS,  school boards are responsible for putting into place a system for students to learn and achieve at the highest level possible; and

WHEREAS,  excellence in the classroom begins with excellence in the boardroom; and

WHEREAS,  the key work of school boards includes taking action to create a vision for what students should know and be able to do; to establish clear standards for student performance; to ensure that student assessments are tied to established standards; to be accountable to the community for operating schools that support student achievement; to align school district resources to ensure that students meet standards; to create a climate assuring safe and orderly classrooms; to build collaborative relationships to solve common problems; and to ensure continuous improvement; and

WHEREAS,  we are proud of the work school boards do and the role school board members play in creating a quality public education system that is fundamental to a strong democratic society; and

WHEREAS,  school board members volunteer their time to ensure that public schools meet the needs of their community.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:  that the Board of Education of Adams County School District 14, Adams County, State of Colorado, does hereby recognize January 2010 as National School Board Recognition Month in Adams 14.
