Jump Start gets young students ready for a successful school year

Starting a fresh school year can be exciting and fun. And some students need some additional support to be at their best to start the new school year. That’s where Jump Start comes in.  This is a program that helps incoming kindergartners with routines, procedures, listening and speaking skills so they are well-prepared to start their first year of elementary school.

First, second and third grade students that are on an active READ plan will also receive extra support in literacy through Jump Start.

This program is FREE of charge.

Who can attend?

Incoming kindergartners

1st, 2nd and 3rd graders that are on an active READ plan.

Remember, Jump Start participation is based solely on a student being on an active READ plan.  In this program, siblings don’t receive preferred entrance.

Where?

Jump Start is offered at every elementary school.  Parents will register their child at their neighborhood school using a Jump Start form from the school’s Family Liaison. Parents of incoming kindergartners can also register their child with their school registrar.

When?

July 24 – August 4, 2017

Monday – Thursday

8 a.m. – Noon

Transportation

Bus service is available to students who live outside the walking distance to their school.  Buses will transport qualified students from Alsup, Dupont and Monaco Elementary Schools.

Attendance requirement

Participating students may have no more than two absences. After that, those students will be dropped from the program.

El programa Jump Start prepara a los estudiantes más pequeños para un año escolar exitoso

Empezar un nuevo año escolar puede ser emocionante y divertido.  Y algunos estudiantes necesitan apoyo adicional para tener el mejor comienzo en el año nuevo.  Ahí es donde Jump Start comienza.  Este es un programa que ayuda a los que comienzan Kínder con rutinas, procedimientos, habilidades de escuchar y hablar para que estén bien preparados para el comienzo del primer año en la primaria.

Los estudiantes de primero, segundo y tercero que están activos en el plan READ también recibirán apoyo adicional en literacidad a través de Jump Start.

Este programa es GRATIS.

¿Quién puede asistir?

Próximos estudiantes de kínder

Estudiantes en 1er, 2do  y 3er grado que están activos en el plan READ.

Recuerden, la participación en Jump Start está basada solamente  para aquellos estudiantes activos en el plan READ. En este programa, los hermanos no reciben preferencias para entrar.

¿Dónde?

Jump Start se ofrecen en cada escuela primaria.  Los padres inscribirán a sus estudiantes en la escuela de su vecindario utilizando el formulario de Jump Start con la Asesora de Padres escolar. Los padres de próximos estudiantes en kínder pueden también inscribirlos con la persona de inscripciones en la escuela.

24 de julio – 4 de agosto, 2017

Lunes - jueves

8 a.m. – Al medio día

Transportación

El servicio de autobús está disponible para estudiantes que viven a mayor distancia de su escuela. Los autobuses transportarán a estudiantes que califican de Alsup, Dupont y Monaco.

Requisito de Asistencia

Los estudiantes que están participando no pueden tener más de dos faltas. Después de estas, los estudiantes serán retirados del programa.
