Alsup Elementary is an authorized Primary Years Program International Baccalaureate school. For the past 14 years Alsup has had a strong partnership with the University of Colorado at Denver. This partnership brings a professor from the university to our school one day per week and allows for dozens of teacher candidates to train here at Alsup while they receive their education degree from UC-D. Recently Alsup was honored as the Regional Title One Distinguished School for the Denver Metro region and the High Flying School through the National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER) and Georgia Southern University. Our students continue to perform well on the state assessment, CSAP, because they are well prepared by our highly qualified teaching staff, who deliver targeted and engaging instruction.

Academic Goals:

• Alsup Elementary is an authorized IB World School. Our reading and math scores continue to increase and currently Alsup students perform above the state average on CSAP in four of the annual state assessments. 
• Alsup has a literacy block and a math block each day allowing for focused and in depth instruction. Grouping and regrouping students and having poignant conversations with each child around his/her data also contribute to our success. 
• We are committed to modeling writing for students each day and teaching them the process of writing to express themselves in an articulate and cohesive way.
• We continue to target instruction to address the learning needs of each child at Alsup. We use MAP data and common assessments to group and regroup students according to skill deficits. We match each child with a highly qualified teacher to deliver instruction following IB PYP inquiry unit design including a central idea, formative and summative assessments, resources, teacher and student-generated questions and student and teacher reflection for each Unit of Inquiry taught and learned.
