Our mission is to provide each student with a diverse education in a safe, respectful and supportive environment that promotes relevant and meaningful learning experiences, which are challenging, engaging and aligned to Colorado Content standards. We work to insure that the students, staff, parents and community members of Adams City High School work in a collaborative partnership to help students develop the skills necessary to become independent and self sufficient citizens.

In August 2009, the new Adams City High School opened on the Prairie Gateway at 72nd and Quebec Parkway. Beyond the four academies, the high school also offers community college courses through its partnerships with Front Range Community College and Community College of Aurora. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credit and technical certifications.
At 293,000 square feet, the new school is the third largest original school structure in the state of Colorado. What does this mean for our students and staff? It means they are attending a school with excellent academic, athletic, and cultural facilities. From the competition size swimming pool and expansive performing arts facilities to the flexible classroom spaces, the new school's form follows its function. Our philosophy is that we cannot predict what education will look like 10 years in the future, so we built a school that is technology rich and offers flexibility of use. Teachers share collaborative workspaces, and students have wireless internet access throughout the building and in commons areas.
This academy helps students prepare for their life after high school, whether that is college or a career. Early College offers rigorous classes that prepares students for their first year of college, and students have opportunities to earn college credit while attending high school. This academy also coordinates community college classes. Students may take classes for Career and Technical certifications, and students may also earn credit toward an associates degree. Students who are part of the Early College Academy begin their high school journey by creating an academic plan, and they monitor this plan with an Early College Counselor. Students have frequent grade checks and work with mentors throughout the school and community.
The mission is to encourage inquisitive thinking in students and to incorporate 21st century technologies into everyday teaching. Students learn to follow the scientific method to solve problems in all of their classes. Through this endeavor, they enhance their thinking and reasoning. Students become skilled at finding, using and creating digital information; in other words, students in the Science and Technology academy are digitally literate. The Science and Technology Academy is forging partnerships with various organizations across the metro area to create opportunities for students to experience science and various scientific career paths.
Students in the Arts Academy use creative approaches to learning through the imagination. The Arts Academy offers core classes in all subject areas while encouraging a respect for cultural and aesthetic exploration. Students learn how to solve problems across all subjects. The Arts Academy blends academics, the arts, technology, and service learning. Students have the opportunity to study visual art, drama, dance, music and creative writing. Through technology, they connect with other students and artists with similar interests throughout the world. The Arts Academy focuses on:
ACHS offers two IB programs. The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a continuation for students from middle school IB programs, and it serves students in grades 9-10. The Diploma Programme (DP) is for students in grades 11 and 12. Students who select IB receive a well-rounded high school education, including rigorous academics, opportunities for service learning, and exposure to a global curriculum. Students are challenged to think about their own education and how they will apply their knowledge after completing high school. All IB students will be eligible to receive college credit upon successful completion of the DP.
