“I’m thrilled to join the Adams 14 team,” said Bryan. “My leadership style is one that incorporates students, teachers, parents and the entire community in the education process.”

Bryan believes that a school’s positive culture relies heavily on the development of ongoing, trusting relationships between staff, students and parents. “I want staff and students to feel an increased level of ownership of the school climate,” said Bryan.

Bryan brings more than 20 years of educational experience to the District, most recently as principal of Greeley West High School. His extensive background includes work improving diverse schools with low attendance rates, large achievement gaps and high discipline rates. His vast, specialized training includes ESL strategies, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) and peer coaching and mentoring.

“As a part of my comprehensive plan, I intend to implement the 3C’s, a program I developed and implemented successfully that focuses on Climate, Culture and Curriculum,” said Bryan.

This notable principal has been active in a variety of professional affiliations, including the Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE), the Special Education Program Advisory Board and the Institute for Development of Educational Activities (IDEA).

Bryan has also been recognized for his hard work and dedication to student success through a number of accolades and recognitions, including Educator of the Year, Who’s Who Among American Teachers and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award. In 2011, he even made an appearance on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, representing the Weld County School District 6.

“It is my intent to inspire and challenge students and staff to maximize their potential, and apply their talents to an enlightened and successful educational environment,” said Bryan.

Adams 14 is excited for the community to meet Bryan Wright. Please look for communications coming this summer with more information on Bryan, as well as opportunities to meet and greet Bryan before the start of the 2012-13 school year.

Ashley Nolasco, Justin Wheeler, Katrina Rice, Marcus Silliman, Maria Jimenez, Thalia Valenzuela, Gabriel Bustos and Genesis Galdean were nominated for the scholarship. These students are among the approximately 700 semifinalists in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming entering the final selection phase for the Daniels Scholarship. In early April, 250 Daniels Scholarships will be awarded to finalists.

In establishing the Daniels Fund, cable pioneer Bill Daniels directed the program to seek out promising students who demonstrate strength of character, a well-rounded personality, potential to give back to the community, and other characteristics.

The Daniels Scholarship has grown from a small pilot program with 32 students launched in the year 2000, to awarding some 250 scholarships each year in the spring. To date, 2,262 Daniels Scholarships have been awarded, allowing students to attend colleges and universities across the United States.

The Daniels Scholarship is not “full ride,” but is supplemental to all other financial aid resources available to the student. By requiring students to apply for other readily available financial resources such as Pell Grants, the Daniels Fund is able to provide even more scholarships to deserving young people seeking to attend college.

Bill Daniels, a cable pioneer known for his kindness and generosity to those in need, established the Daniels Fund to provide grants and scholarships in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. When he died in the year 2000, his estate transferred to the Fund, making it the largest foundation in the Rocky Mountain West.

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) presented Adams 14 with its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Program. This accolade, awarded for excellence in preparation and issuance of the fiscal year-end 2011 financial report, celebrates Adams 14’s high-quality Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

Sponsored by VALIC, the Certificate of Excellence (COE) award confirms the school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting.

This is the second time ASBO has recognized Adams 14’s financial department for its work on the CAFR. The District was also awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year-end 2009.

“Being recognized for our District’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report once again highlights the dedication and proficiency of our financial business staff,” said Dr. Susan Chandler, Adams 14 Superintendent. “The District’s approach to financial reporting creates transparency and enhances two-way communication opportunities with key stakeholders, as well as within the community we serve.”
